Welcomed by images of Paris and the Eiffel Tower, I arrived at Hala’s wedding shower and instantly felt warm. I was graciously ushered into the kitchen, offered a steamy cup of coffee, and gazed in awe as my eyes caught the spread of snacks before me. Not only were there healthy options of fruits, veggies, and lentil salad, but my stomach also noticed the freshly made quiche (topped with poodles and emblems of Paris) as well as the brie and raspberry tarts. A gorgeous hummingbird cake created by Hala’s sister-in-law, featuring the honeymoon location, sat atop a glass platter.
Guests mingled, friends met, and generations mixed. Soon, we were all gathered in the living room for a purse raid and scattergories. Laughter engulfed us all. Adjectives to describe Hala such as beautiful, brilliant, reliable, radiant, in love, dynamic, dazzling, delightful, and effervescent floated through the air and lingered on lips. Finally, the three bridesmaids presented Hala with a basket of paired candles, each representing a step in life that Hala & Billy will take together.
It was truly a remarkable event. I can’t tell you how excited I am for the wedding next month! Not to mention, Hala is going to be such a beautiful bride!
